A tale of two young ladies traveling home from college for summer break. Their lives change radically after a brief encounter with an enigmatic device outside their rural Alaskan hometown. One of the young ladies becomes a hermaphrodite, the other grows taller than any human has ever grown. As the pair struggle with their physical changes, they also must deal with a violent force seeking their destruction. They turn to each other during these harrowing times and discover a love where before there was only friendship.
